The World Cup winner will play in Bayern’s last three assignments under the Bundesliga banner. It will be against Borussia Monchengladbach, Freiburg and Wolfsburg.
He has scored 14 goals, including last-minute efforts in Bayern’s European Super Cup wins against Chelsea in 2013 and Sevilla in 2020.
“I am very proud and happy to have been part of the FC Bayern family for nine years,” Martinez said via the team’s official website. “I want to thank this great club and in particular our fans – you have made Munich my home!”
There is still no update on what Bayern plan to do once Martinez completes his stint at the Allianz Arena.
Board members praised the midfielder for his contributions to the club, acknowledging that Martinez’s departure would leave a big void.
“Javi Martinez is one of those who clearly explains what FC Bayern stands for. When the best international players identify with our club the way they do, you can achieve great things, ”said club president Herbert Hainer.
“Javi quickly became one of us, and the incredible success we have had with him speaks for itself. Javi Martinez will always have a special place in the history of this club. We wish him the best for his life. to come up.”
Martinez joined Bayern in 2012 from Athletic Club for a record $ 48 million. He has since played in 266 matches in all competitions.
It’s unclear where Martinez might play next, but Athletic Bilbao are said to be among the clubs interested in touching the Spaniard, AS reported.
But given that he has just had a good season, several clubs from Europe, USA and Asia should try to present his services.
“I am open to anything that satisfies me personally and physically. I could live and play in the USA, Australia or return to Spain,” Martinez said.
