The SOZO Complex – Home to one of America’s best beer bashes!
One of my best friends works in the hop industry and it’s the middle of the harvest season. He’s busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kick contest as brewers come to Yakima from across the country (and the world!) To check on this year’s hop crop.
What has been deemed one of the country’s top beer festivals unofficially concludes the season. It’s called the Fresh Hop Ale Fest and the summary on the website gives a pretty good picture of what you can expect.
Party like its 2021
The fresh hop beer festival brings beer lovers around the world to the hop house. The Yakima Valley produces over 70% of our countries’ hops and ranks second after Germany for overall production. We celebrate the harvest with Fresh Hop Beers. These beers MUST be brewed with fresh valley hops and can only be produced at this time of year. Each of our breweries submits a beer to the jury and the winners are announced during the festival.
Over 70 breweries, wineries and cider houses, along with live music and great food make the festival a must-see. Once you enter, additional tasting tokens, merchandise, and food can be purchased throughout the night.
Here are some things you need to know to have this fabulous fresh hop experience.
AG (sponsor) ticket holders will have a separate entrance to the GA to avoid the main line and enter faster, but early entry does not apply.
$ 50.00 gets you thEntrance to the festival, commemorative tasting glass, 4 tasting tokens and live music all night long.
We encourage you to take the shuttle to avoid drunk driving (and the $ 5 fee to park at SOZO). The shuttles are free for everyone and can be used throughout the evening.
How the virus will affect the party
Masks must now be worn at any event of more than 500 people. So bring one!
