The ongoing project at the Cortese restaurant will provide additional seating
A long-standing restaurant on the East Side of Binghamton is building an outdoor seating area.
Colleen Cortese of the Cortese restaurant on Robinson Street said construction work on the project started recently. It should be finished in a few weeks.
Cortese said the dining room would be covered with a roof and surrounded by a small wall. She said there would be heaters and umbrellas.
The 18ft by 16ft patio style addition is being built along the eastern side of the restaurant.
Cortese said a temporary outdoor seating area proved popular with many diners when it was put in place last year shortly after the Covid-19 pandemic required health precautions.
The Cortese restaurant has been a staple of the Robinson Street site since it opened in 1947.
