New microbrewery and beer garden could be put into operation in Hudson
There could be another brewery in Hudson in the winter of 2022. According to the Albany Business Review, plans were submitted to the Town of Hudson that would take an unfinished warehouse and vacant land and turn it into a microbrewery and bar with a beer garden.
There is a 5,000 square foot warehouse located at 716 Union Street with vacant land next to it that would be renovated and improved. It’s right in front of the police station. The new location would be known as the Union Street Brewing Company.
When the plans were submitted, Paul and Emma O’Donnell of SPE Ventures LLC laid out their vision:
We seek to be a destination for beer geeks, a local watering hole as well as a community hangout. We plan to be a productive member of the Town of Hudson economy by creating jobs and tax revenue starting in the winter of 2022 when we plan to begin construction.
Union Street Brewing Company would be a microbrewery open Thursday through Sunday and would employ ten people in the first year. The request that was submitted explained the objectives of opening the brewery:
Union Street Brewing Company plans to operate a quiet, family-friendly and relaxing beer garden during the warmer months and plans to open the doors to the garden in the tap room when the weather permits. We may occasionally offer live music indoors or in the beer garden and will fully comply with the Town of Hudson Noise Ordinance.
The Hudson Planning Council has considered the application and has scheduled a public hearing to be held on September 14.
There is another microbrewery in town. The Hudson Brewing Company is located on South 3rd Street.
