Mountain Dew-flavored alcoholic beverage arrives in the Hudson Valley
Hard seltzer always seems to be in fashion, and now we’ll be seeing more of them here in the Hudson Valley soon. PepsiCo has announced that a Mountain Dew flavored hard seltzer will arrive in the Hudson Valley and the rest of the country in early 2022. Hard seltzer and soda mixed? Is this a good thing?
Reuters reports that Boston Beer’s Truly hard seltzer will develop the new alcoholic beverage, which will simply be called Hard Mtn Dew. The move comes shortly after Coca-Cola announced that its Topo Chico sparkling water would soon be available in alcoholic form by early next year. It would be Coke’s first alcoholic drink to come to the United States after the introduction of a lemon-flavored alcoholic drink called Lemon-Do in Japan in 2018.
The new Mountain Dew hard seltzer salt will have an alcohol content of 5%. Of course, if the sales are successful, a more powerful version could be available somewhere down the line. Earlier this year, Truly and his rival White Claw announced the release of a much more potent version of their popular hard seltzer. And with fall and pumpkin season not too far away, there is already a new hard seltz flavored with pumpkin in the market, if that’s your thing.
Meanwhile, Mountain Dew has certainly branched out creatively over the past few years with its product. In October 2020, they announced their own citrus soda flavored hot sauce, which they were developing with NBA star Joel Embid. They’ve also teamed up with seafood chain giant Red Lobster to release their own margarita. Yum (?). And then there was Dew of the Doritos Mountains. Has anyone ever had this? We hear they’re not that bad actually.
