McLaughlin will start on pole in Nashville ahead of Romain Grosjean
Several times postponed due to storm warnings, the qualifying session for the IndyCar Grand Prix in Nashville rewarded Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske). The New Zealander, who had already set the best time in free practice a little earlier this Saturday August 6, signed his second pole position of the year 2022 after Saint Petersburg last February.
“The car is phenomenalrejoiced the former Australian Supercar specialist. We did this tour in one attempt, with worn tires! This car, this chassis, is really powerful. We won at St Pete, Mid-Ohio and we are on pole at Nashville, a fantastic circuit. »
Scott McLaughlin defeated Romain Grosjean (Andretti). The Frenchman signed his best performance of the season and his time brought great relief to him and his American team.
“It’s perfect for all of us, says Romain Grosjean. We have worked very hard. We had some issues and couldn’t get the car where we wanted on Friday. A change we made for the first practice session brought the car to life, and we knew we could work with that.
There was a good job from the whole team at n°28; they made so many changes. Olivier (Boisson), my engineer, also worked a lot. I think it’s important that we go ahead for tomorrow. I’m also happy for DHL, they’ve been so supportive, and I’m ready for tomorrow’s race. »
Is the change of momentum @RGrosjean necessary?

Simon Pagenaud (Meyer Shank Racing) was trapped in the first qualifying group and will have to start 13th. In the battle for the title, championship leader Will Power (Team Penske) posted the eighth fastest time, while Indianapolis 500 Miles winner Marcus Ericsson (Chip Ganassi Racing) will be pressed for 18th place. Although: the Swede had won the 2021 Nashville Grand Prix starting from 18th place!
The Nashville Grand Prix will start at 9:20 p.m. French time this Sunday, August 7.
