Mariano misses training ahead of Bilbao trip and Ramos remains out
TThe woes of the wound don’t go away for Zinedine Zidane as Mariano Diaz missed Real Madrid training on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s trip to Bilbao, as Sergio ramos stay out.
Mariano came off the bench to Grenade but did not take part in training at Valdebebas on Saturday, meaning he is the last name on an already long list absent for the clash with Athletic club.
Already on the sidelines are Dani Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Lucas Vasquez, Ferland Mendy (also absent from training on Saturday), Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos.
Ramos’ continued absence means that if, as expected, Luis Enrique names his European Championship squad on May 21, the Madrid captain will only have played five competitive games for Los Blancos in 2021 before that date.
In the first team training session on Saturday, the now usual academy players – Miguel Gutierrez, Antonio Blanco and Sergio Arribas – were also joined by the midfielder of the youth team Takuhiro Nakai and his teammate Diby keita, who could replace the injured Marvin.
Real Madrid face Athletic Club at 6.30 p.m. (CET) on Sunday in the third meeting between the two teams this season, Los Blancos winning in the previous LaLiga Santander game and the Lions triumphing in the Spanish Super Cup semi final.
