Fallón and little participatory as ‘9’
Ferran Torres is in the process of adapting to FC Barcelona. Nobody said it would be easy or quick, but in such an irregular situation of the Barcelona team, the ’emergencies’ leave signaled to those who do not immediately shine. The ex-Manchester City is in the process of ‘transition’ and, although in each game he has left samples of his great quality, he has not finished despairing and giving the leap in quality that he expects from his landing at Camp Nou.
The expectation is due to the fact that the Valencian has almost always played as a first center, although this is not his natural position, but yes the one who took him to become -practically- a fixed player in the selection of Spain of Luis Enrique, with whom he himself fell the goals of the pocket. To Barça’s bad luck, with the team culé hasn’t been like this and begins to give way to ask if he can shine at Camp Nou as a ‘9’.
Against Espanyol, in the concrete, appeared very little and generated opportunities for account drops. Although he is a very hard-working player and he looks for spitting in the center, he has made it clear that he is not a pure ‘9’ and that sometimes he can be uncomfortable. In minute 38′ had his only clear chance against Diego López’s goal, with a header that went high. ‘It was loafing’ by the striker, but ended up playing up front alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when Xavi left on four men, with Dembélé and Adama by the boards.
Waiting for take off
Ferran was not comfortable and, although he did not sign a bad party, did not meet the expectations that had generated his signature, following his goal in front of Athletic de Bilbao and the assistance to Frenkie de Jong against Sportive Alavés. In front of the bilbaínos, Torres received in the beak of the surface, looked at the goal and sent with wire the spherical to let him strike with the right stick, where could not arrive, nor of miracle, Agirrezabala to cover it. He gave the first ‘spoonful’ of his quality, but since then little has happened.
In Vitoria he returned to the key of the goal that gave the three points to Barcelona. Jordi Alba put in a measured cross which left Tours very alone in the area. All it took was a very attentive Frenkie from Jong to score at pleasure and put a 0-1 milagroso in the marker. In Cornellà, however, remained still in the attempt and without a clear idea of what can offer this Barça, but what is clear is that we must strive to show it.
