Patson Daka was in scintillating form on Wednesday afternoon as he scored four goals to help Leicester City win 4-3 against Spartak Moscow in Russia.

The loot means Daka became the fifth player to score more than three goals in a UEFA Europa League game, following in the footsteps of Edison Cavani, William Jose, Radamel Falcao and Athletic Bilbao legend Aritz Aduriz .

After his exploits, Daka was showered with praise from Gary Winston Lineker, inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2003, describing the Zambian striker as “another gem”.

Lineker took to Twitter in his usual football commentary when talking about his former teams’ game with Patson Daka appearing in all of his tweets about the game.

Lineker, who played for the Foxes between 1978 and 1985, also thanked CAF Young Player of the Year 2017 for saving “the Lineker lads European tour”.

I’m sure you’re all stuck to @LCFCin Moscow and agree that the Foxes have been complicating their lives with their defense lately. @ PatsonDaka20the goal of could be crucial. I think Leicester may have found another gem. ??

With 4 goals @ PatsonDaka20 Maybe just saved the European tour from the Lineker guys. What a service. Thank you and well done, young man. ??

The Zambian forward has scored four goals including a nine-minute treble to help the Foxes secure their first victory of the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League campaign.

The four goals have helped Daka break several records, including becoming the first player to score three goals in a single game for Leicester City on the European stage.
