BME and BBF Fintech organize a hackathon on sustainable finance | Technology and AI
The first hackathon focused on the world of fintech and insurtech at the international level, focused on sustainable finance, will be held in Bilbao.
The ‘Hack & Disrupt!’ will take place on June 25, 26 and 27 and is organized by BME and BBF Fintech. The event aims to bring companies, entrepreneurs and startups together to solve global technological challenges as a team.
The event, which is sponsored by BBK, Plaza Financiera Bilbao and the SIX startup accelerator, F10, wants to connect entrepreneurs and businesses to reimagine finance and insurance through digitization. The challenges that the participants will face are oriented towards innovation and sustainable finance.
Due to the pandemic, the event will take place in a hybrid format, combining a face-to-face game, at BBF Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria, and via a technology platform, which will feature different booths, discussions and work rooms. The opening and closing ceremonies, as well as various panels related to the entrepreneurial world and the fintech and insurtech ecosystem, will be broadcast from the platform.
What will happen during the event?
The opening will focus on innovation in securities markets, followed by a roundtable on sustainability. The challenges will be presented on Friday evening and the teams will start working on their resolution until Sunday 27. On Saturday 26 will be the presentations of several experts, including Berta Ares, CEO of BME Inntech, and Manuel Ardanza, president of the stock exchange. from Bilbao.
The winners, to be announced on Sunday, will be eligible for three prizes: a prospecting trip to Switzerland, where they will get to know its fintech ecosystem in detail, the possibility of participating in the incubation program and the BBF Fintech’s II Open Innovation Program, the ” public-private fintech incubator promoted by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the City of Bilbao, the University of Mondragón and Dominion, as well as direct access to the final interview to participate in the F10 incubation and acceleration program .
Javier Hernani, CEO of BME, believes that BME’s presence at this event reaffirms the company’s commitment to digitization, innovation and the promotion of disruptive SMEs and startups, which adds to other initiatives, such as the pre-market environment. “The startups of today can be the blue chips of tomorrow,” he said. “We also reiterate our support for Bilbao as an innovative financial center, where BME closely follows the entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he added.
